Speculaas (spiced cookies) is a product that is made in Holland since the Golden Century. The recipe originates from the Golden Century when ships from the East Indian Company returned to Holland loaded with spices of their travels.
The Dutch Bakeries used the new discovered treasures, such as cinnamon, clove, nutmeg and ginger in a delicious brittle cookie. For this speculaas pieces the same spicemixture is still being used.
Ingredients:
wheat flour, sugar, vegetable oil, vegetable fat, spices, raisings agents (E500, E503), salt.
